Lyocell fibers are derived from sustainable wood sources – sustainably managed forests. Wood and pulp used to produce the Qalm blanket is farmed in a sustainable way.
The Bamboo Lyocell fibers used in Qalm blankets are grown in a big Bamboo farm in Western China. As Bamboo grows about 1 meter per day the production is not overusing resources but rather making sure the bamboo trees grow in a controlled and healthy manner.
Feels Cool /
The smooth fiber surface of Lyocell fibers absorbs moisture more efficiently than cotton. This supports the body’s natural thermal regulating mechanism, keeping your skin feeling pleasantly cool and dry throughout the day and night. Fabrics can also be engineered to provide warm and dry sensations on the skin.
unfavorable for bacterial growth
Lyocell fibers absorb moisture efficiently. In comparison to polyester and synthetics, there is less available moisture formed on the surface of the fiber for bacteria to grow. Consequently, Lyocell fibers provide a less favorable environment for bacterial growth, offering better hygienic qualities to fabrics like lyocell compared to other materials such as Cotton.
Lyocell fibers have gained a commendable reputation for their environmentally responsible closed loop production process, which transforms wood pulp into cellulosic fibers with high resource efficiency and low ecological impact. This solvent-spinning process recycles process water and reuses the solvent at a recovery rate of more than 99%. You can have the assurance that your choices are not contributing to an adverse impact on the environment.
sustainable production of Lyocell fibers
Lyocell fibers naturally manage the transportation of moisture, enhancing fabrics by keeping your skin feeling pleasantly comfortable. Composed of natural material, the microscopic fibrils of cellulosic fibers are structured to regulate the absorption and release of moisture. This contributes to breathable fabrics that support the body’s natural temperature regulating properties, creating a refreshingly cooling sensation on your skin.
Lyocell fibers are naturally soft to the touch and offer long-lasting comfort. When viewed under an electron microscope, Lyocell fibers exhibit a smooth surface area, giving fabrics a soft feel and ensuring comfort for sensitive skin.
gentle on skin
The ability to absorb moisture makes Lyocell and Modal fibers tension-free with no electrostatic charging. In comparison with synthetics, there is an absence of electrostatic charge.
minimal static charge
Viewed under an electron microscope, Lyocell fibers exhibit a sleek surface area, giving textiles a luxurious sheen. The deeper dye uptake and smooth fiber surface of Lyocell fibers make them shine perceptibly more intensively than cotton fabrics.
Distinguished by their greater strength among cellulose fibers, Lyocell fibers are durable and have a long-lasting quality.
Lyocell fibers are naturally smooth to the touch and enhance the quality of fabrics to glide lightly over your skin.
Soft to the touch, fabrics containing Lyocell fibers produce a smooth drape, creating a flattering appearance.
The smooth surface of Lyocell fibers enable color dyes to penetrate deeply into the fiber structure, resulting in impressive color brilliance.
Color pigments are deeply embedded into Modal fibers, which retain long-lasting color vibrancy more than conventionally dyed fibers, and are less prone to fade even after repeated washing.
Exhibiting high flexibility, Modal wood-based fibers offer textiles a long-lasting quality of exquisite softness. Due to the fiber’s sleek cross section, Modal fibers enhance the soft touch of fabrics even after repeated washing.
Measurements and hand evaluations of softness show that Modal fibers are twice as soft as cotton. The softness of Modal fibers lasts longer and is able to withstand repeated wash and dry cycles compared to cotton.
